Federal Skilled Worker
The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) Express Entry is an immigration program administered by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the department responsible for immigration to Canada.
If you intend to immigrate to Canada under the FSWP and obtained your academic credentials outside Canada, one of the requirements is to obtain an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for immigration purposes.
Skilled workers are chosen as permanent residents based on;
• Age
• Education
• Work experience
• Whether you have a valid job offer
• English and/or French language skills
• Adaptability (how well you’re likely to settle here)
The Federal Skilled Worker Program eligibility is determined using a 100-point scoring system that includes these elements. For how well you perform in each of the 6 areas, you receive points.
The current pass mark is 67 points.
Since January 1, 2015, completing an Express Entry profile is the first step in Immigrating to Canada permanently as a skilled worker under the:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program.
- Federal Skilled Trades Program.
- Canadian Experience Class.
Under the Express Entry system, we will invite people to apply for Permanent Residence based on the information they enter in an online profile. You cannot apply directly to any of these programs unless we send you an invitation to apply.
Skilled workers who want to live in Quebec apply under a separate category. The province of Quebec selects its own skilled workers. Applicants who intend to go to Quebec are known as “Quebec-Selected” skilled workers.
